Role Models - Red Band Trailer (Video)

Paul Rudd is funny in everything he's in (except for Clueless, of course)

Revolutionary Road - Trailer (Video)

To me, Di Caprio + Winslet = crap love story on a sinking ship with Celine Dion singing in the background.

But this is Sam Mendes, not James Cameron, so we'll give it a chance.

Choose the poster for the new BIG biopic

These are the three options for the main promo-poster for the new biopic on the life of the greatest rapper of all time. Fox Searchlight clearly can't make a decision:

New Banksy 3 storey piece in NYC

Banksy has thrown up this piece in SoHo, New York at the weekend (with a little help from the pro-painting chaps at Colossal). Click HERE for more pics and details.

Rats heart London too.

Q-Tip - I Believe (featuring D'Angelo) mp3

New from Q-Tip's forthcoming album (cover art above).
*
So Kamaal somehow persuaded D'Angelo to put down the crackpipe and cheeseburger long enough to sing some bars... let's hope theres more to come and we get that third album we've been waiting for for 8 or 9 years.
Nah Right is reporting that this isn't the final version that will appear on the album, but you get the idea.

GDP - Succumb (Video)

A new emcee from New Jersey. Good video.

Apparently, he already has a large following of teenage female fans, which can't do him any harm (especially when labels have got their A&R's out searching for 'the new Em'.)

The 'Downfall' of Chelsea

"We're more pathetic than Leeds".

The boy Adolf has got a bit of a temper hasn't he? Pure comedy.

The View - 5 Rebeccas (Video)

New from The View.

Janelle Monae - Many Moons (Video)

This may or may not be your type of thing, but it's worth a listen. Musically, it's like a darker version of "Hey Ya!". Plus, somebody spent some serious money on this promo clip.

KAWS Stormtrooper's snapped up

Guess what... they've all gone. But if you've got 500 quid lying around, you can go here and get two of them. Bargain.

Marc Jacobs x KAWS

When I heard that two of my favourite designers were joining forces, I got momentarily excited. (I'm still shocked Marc Jacobs knows who KAWS is.)
*
Then I saw what they had collaborated on, the excitement died, and I went back to watching the Spanish football on Sky. But... if I was a woman, these would be No.1 on my "items I would kill another human to own" list (women have those, I've heard).

Jean-Charles might disagree

Whichever idiot decided to put the above poster (tag line "There's nothing wrong with a little shooting as long as the right people get shot") up at Stockwell Tube station should be sacked. Twice.
Go HERE to read the details and see photos of this Class A balls-up.

Andre 3000's Benjamin Bixby Collection

More details of Andre 3000's (Outkast) new clothing collection have emerged. He's confimred that the line will be exclusive, at least to begin with, at Harrods over here and at Barneys over there.
In this article with the Guardian, he talks about his shopping trips in London, his love for Portobello Market's "old stuff" and how it felt to have Mick Jagger photograph his clothes.

Above - Street Art in Lisbon

Californian street artist Above, best known for THIS kind of thing, gets witty in Lisbon.

Gomorrah - Trailer (Video)

This looks like Goodfellas meets City Of God in Italy. Hits UK cinemas on October 10.

New Date for "808's & Heartbreak"

Kanye West has moved the release date of his forthcoming album '808's & Heartbreak' up from the original 16th December schedule to November because, in his words, "I'm done with the album and I felt like it".
*
Fair enough.

KAWS x Star Wars Companion Release

KAWS does it again. He's created pandemonium with a toy for adults.
*
OriginalFake meets Star Wars with this Stormtrooper Companion figure which will be released on Saturday at 9am at the OF Tokyo store. Apparently, a lottery will be held just to get a ticket to enter the shop.
*
"There will be a 15 year old age minimum and admission tickets will be handed out at 9:00 am, for use by the said person only. One companion figure per customer. Each ticket includes a special time and date for when the customer has to come back and purchase the Companion, time and date cannot be changed regardless of circumstance and proper I.D is needed. Only the customers who understand and accept these conditions are welcome to participate in the lottery"

Incredibly. Anchorman is not No. 1

Beg, borrow and steal Heath an Oscar?

Not happy with having the second biggest grossing film of all time, the studio behind 'The Dark Knight' are planning a special Oscar-time reminder-release, no doubt spending some of the Billion Dollars it has made worldwide, thus far, on specifically marketing Heath Ledger's Joker as a Oscar-worthy performance.
*
Now, the film was great and the performance was great too. But this is too contrived and probably unnecessary. He's a shoo-in for a nomination. Why spend more cash trying to buy him votes? He's dead, he won't care. Personally, I can't imagine that his was the best performance this year in a leading role (don't try and tell me he was a supporting actor), and if he wins it will always have that "did he win because he's dead?" question hanging over it.
Desperation to get a trophy on the studios part is sullying a memory here, and I don't like it. Is the boss over at Warner Brothers doing this for Heath's family, or to add the few more dollars in revenue that an "Oscar Winning Performance" tagline brings in?
And the biggest joke of all? Who thinks this film or this performance needs MORE publicity?

Kanye West - Love Lockdown mp3

Kanye West's new sing-le (see what I did there?). I wonder if he'll go back to rapping on his fourth album "808's and Heartbreak", due 16th December?
I'm not sure this link will last long, so get it while you can.

The end is nigh?

Today, we may all be sucked into a hole on the French-Swiss border. (Theres a joke in there somewhere, I'm sure of it). Here's a nice introduction from the BBC website to what the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is all about.
See you on the other side...

The Big Lebowski - 10 Year Anniversary

The Big Lebowski is 10 years old this year. I can't believe I've been watching this film for a decade and still laugh like I did the first time, still quote it regularly.
(Favourite quote: "Eight year olds, Dude").
*
Until 'No Country...' was released, this was my favourite Coen Brothers film by far. Now it's a tie. I wonder though if that film can stand the test of time (and 10 years of monthly repeat-viewings) like Lewbowski does to this day? We'll see...
*
Aquarium Drunkard have done a nice retrospective article in honour of todays 10 Year Anniversary DVD release (Region 1). Click HERE to read the article.

"Off-piste afternoon dick in a forest"

Click HERE for more genius wordsmithery from Charlie Brooker's latest G2 column.

And the pictuire above is quite obviously, from Charlie's book Dawn of The Dumb, which is the funniest thing I've read. Ever.
(Although I've only read 13 books, and they were about a drifter called Reacher who is also a killing machine and all-round good egg. Admittedly they were unintentionally funny, but not quite on this level).

The Foot Fist Way (Trailer)

Noel Gallagher Assaulted In Canadia Land (Video)

A bit harsh that.

"Except, once my pants are on I make gold records"

Will Ferrell - exploring the space and performing the hell out of it... soothing Bruce's fever.

Kanye West - Love Lockdown (Live)

A new track that Kanye performed at the VMA's at the weekend. I like it, a lot more than I should considering it's a rapper singing with auto-tune and a vocoder. But the drums are EXCELLENT.

Damien Hirst x Levi's

Artist Damien Hirst turns his hand to fashion again for his latest collaboration with Levi's. You won't be surprised to see that the diamond skull motif rears its head (sorry) again.
