Matthew Williamson for H&M

This is the most wearable thing in this line. H&M have had success in the past (most notably with the CDG collection) when teaming up with high fashion types, but this dies on it's arse.
-
It's all too fruity and flamboyant (I'm pretty fucking far from being a homophobe, if you were wondering) for High Street retail. Sure, it'll end up on ebay at hyper inflated prices, but nobody will actually wear these clothes in public. There's a snake-skin inspired shorts-suit that made me puke up into my mouth. Evil, evil clothing.
-
Don't believe me? See for yourself over at hypebeast.
-
PS. I saw Matthew Williamson in Mayfair once. He's 4 foot 11 and weighs 6 stone. I thought it was a bearded child strolling past me.

Classic Material: Slick Rick - Children's Story (Video)

Rick was from Roehampton. He left for the Bronx as a teenager, became a rap legend, started the whole designer-label Hip Hop trend, shot and killed a man who was extorting him, spent years in prison, almost got deported back to London... you get the picture.

Classic Material.

Maxwell - Pretty Wings mp3 & video

The only R&B dude smoother than D'Angelo (although D still holds the title as the G.O.A.T. of new soul music). Isn't it refreshing to hear/see proper modern soul music, without an Autotune chorus, some chaps showing us their watch, half naked women and a rented Bentley in the video/verses?
(If you like this track, please buy Raphael Saadiq's new album. It deserves an audience.)

Antichrist - Trailer

This looks unpleasant. From Euro oddball Lars Von Trier.

Mayer Hawthorne - Just Ain't Gonna Work Out (Official Video)

From the legendary LA Hip Hop and Beats label Stones Throw. I love this. The speccy geek channels 1960's Smokey Robinson-style vocals, and the message is relevant for summer (wanting to give your heart to every girl you see in the street).

The visuals are great too, and the single comes on a heart shaped slab of vinyl. Near perfection, in my eyes.

The Maccabees - Love You Better (Video)

New from The Maccabee's... it reminds me of something, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Adam - Trailer (Video)

New from Fox 'Indie' Searchlight, whose output I like very much.

Because I'm a bit of a closet shoe-gazer.

New Burial (snippet)

Juno will be selling a double-A sided 12" from Monday 4th May, featuring brand new tracks from Four-Tet and, more importantly, South London Dubstep hero (hero of mine, at any rate), Burial. If you don't know about him, click here and 'learn yourself'.
-
You can stream a snippet of this forthcoming track HERE. The minute it's ripped to mp3 format, it will be on this site. Promise.

From the streets of Santiago...

Spotted on the streets of the Chile capital (click for close-up).
-
Latin American street art always seems more... artistic, to me.

Abisko Washbasin - me likey

I don't know... those crazy Swedish blokes. Go HERE for more.

Wall Street 2: The Credit Crunch

Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas have signed up for a sequel to the 1987 greed and capitalism-bashing "Wall Street', prompted surely by the catastrophic collapse of global financial systems over the past 18 months.
-
This is great news for one reason... we get to see the Gordon Gecko character resurrected.

New music from Mike Skinner

Mike is giving brand new tracks away via twitter. Almost enough to make me take back all the nasty things I've said about that site...

Basement Jaxx - Raindrops mp3

New from Basement Jaxx. Good to have them back.

The fuckery stars have aligned...

...and come up with Jade: The Musical. Seriously. No, really.
-
As if that isn't horrific enough (although it would be interesting to see how they go about airbrushing her 'right-wing racist' period out), we'll have to endure a fucking TV 'talent' contest to find a new star to play the lead role. Who would the expert judge be? The Geordie voice from Big Brother? Her twatty husband? I could ramble on here about how incredibly pointless/sick/wrong/exploitative/hypocritical/etc this is, but I wont. Because I'll only live to be 80 (if I don't hang myself from depression after this news), and I've already wasted 4 minutes of my life writing a post.
-
By the way... No matter what else happens this year, this wins my 2009 Abject Fuckery Award.

Oceans - Teaser Trailer

Disney have pumped some serious cash into this flick... but it's got it's work cut-out to beat the BBC's 'Blue Planet' and 'Planet Earth' series.

Surely this is made for the American market, and as such will be packed with tension and drama and emotion rather than facts.

Bombay Bicycle Club - Always Like This (Video)

From Hip Hop's next big thing to pop/indie's next big thing (via footy hooligans).

I've had this track on repeat for weeks now, and I love their earlier EP's and singles. An album is due from these Londoners in June. I'll be at the front of the queue...

The Football Factory in 4 and a half minutes

I watched this film again the other night. Pure comedy from start to finish (whether intentionally or not).

And despite criticism that this glamourises hooliganism, I can assure you it is in no way aspirational (other than some of them have very nice CP Company coats). If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favour... you muggy c*nt!

Drake - Best I Ever Had mp3

You may like this, you may not (I'm probably in the latter camp, moving towards the former slowly), but you should probably know about this dude because he's the next big thing.
-
An artist from Toronto with links to Lil' (spit) Wayne's Young Money records, he has honed a singing/rapping style that is proving hugely popular... his visit to New York's Hot97 radio station at the weekend caused actual roadblocks and prompted a DJ to claim that he had "shut New York down"... despite the fact that he has no official single or album releases to his name. Anyway, see what you think and remember the name:

Dior Homme Chiffre Rouge a05

Try and tell me that is not the coolest watch you've seen in years (click the image for a close-up). The ruby red rear-side to the face is beautiful (yes, I know it's only a watch). For just 2,500 of Her Majesty's Glorious English Pound Sterling, it can be yours. I'm tempted.
Go here if you are flush and you want one: Dior Homme.

Moon - Trailer

I'm a sci-fi fan (without the dandruff and Batman t-shirt), and so I like the look of this.

DOOM - Batty Boyz mp3

The Supervillain, MF DOOM waxes lyrical on the 'gayness' of Batman and assorted super heroes, in his trademark comedic way;
-
"Oh shoot, get a load of that fruit, in thigh high boots, red tighty-whiteys and blue cat suit..."

Taken from THIS, out on Lex Records now.

Maximo Park - The Kids Are Sick Again (Video)

Friday 10 April 2009

Stevie Wonder - Shoo-Be-Doo-Be-Doo-Da-Day (Live 1968)

Jesus. What a legend...

...but how can the crowd sit there motionless? This is FUNKY!

Exile - Love Line mp3

Another joint taken from THIS, Exiles latest (instrumental) album. Ex's amigo Blu recently dropped a version of this track with his lyrics over the top. Now, I love Blu (not in that way), but I've got to go with the original...
-
If I smoked weed, I'd smoke to this track. Lean back and enjoy.

Extract - Trailer

Looks good. Affleck has the best line... "She's a TRAMP?!"

KanYe - Destroyed by Matt and Trey

Matt Stone and Trey Parker dedicated an episode of South Park to ripping the piss out of KanYe West. They hit the nail on the head, focusing on his ludicrously ego-centric personality.
-
To be fair to Mr West, he took it in the spirit it was intended, acknowledging that South Park had "murdered" him on his blog.
-
Go to 2dopeboyz who are streaming the whole episode.

Doves - Kingdom of Rust mp3

Not sure how long this will stay posted, as it's the title track and official single from their new album and I'm sure the band would rather you bought it than d/l it from here.
-
But, it's the best advert for the new album, which is EXCELLENT. Hopefully this will persuade you to go and buy it.

Eminem - We Made You (Video)

Same old same old from Marshall. Still... it's vaguely comedic.

Bruno - Trailer (Red Band - NSFW!)

-
He's going to wind some yanks up something rotten with this...
-
Apologies for the Age Restriction. It's worth it though...
