Beat Street - Breakerz vs Rock Steady
A b-boy battle scene from the classic 80's flick Beat Street.
I loved breakdancing as a kid. I used to try to windwmill at school and would put holes in my school uniform. The windwill around the 1:40 mark is amazing. I wasn't quite that good.
White Denim - 'I Start To Run' (Video)
A great video for the new White Denim single.
I tried to post the mp3 to this a while back, but inadvertantly posted an album track by mistake (Reminder to self: you need to edit that post title).
From their new album 'Fits', which is out now.

Tweet - Oops (Oh My) feat. Missy Elliott (Video)
A favourite of mine from a few years back.
It's about "touching" ones self, by the way...
Meth & Red - Miss International feat. Erick Sermon
DAMN! I'm still reeling from MJ going.
Anyway, this is some light hearted fun.
The song is okay, the video is aiight (that's 'aiight', alright?). You know who Method Man is, and you know who Redman is. If you don't, get the fuck off this blog and never come back.
This also features the Green Eyed Bandit, E-Double, emcee/producer Erick Sermon of EPMD (I'll give you young dudes who don't know your classic NY Hip Hop from the 80's/early 90's a pass on that... "when I come around homeboy watch your nugget, a master of the beatdown, my style's rugged").
Beck covers The Velvet Underground

Spread - Trailer
I'd rather eat a Shit and Pinapple pizza than watch this.
I'd rather be stung on my iris by a scorpian than watch this.
I'd rather have a ballbag for a nose than watch this.
I'd rather go to work in a suit jacket, shirt and tie but be naked from the waist down than watch this.
Posted purely for archive purposes, bitches.
Kanye West x Louis Vuitton Footwear
'Meh' in the extreme.
Would you drop £400 on a pair of these? Nope, me either.
Promo video made in conjunction with highsnobiety.com.

Nyle - Let The Beat Build (Video)
Shot in one take, and everything you hear is being played live, as the camera pans to them. Impressive.
Of course, this is a cover of the Kanye West-produced album cut from Lil' Wayne's (spit) Tha Carter III album.
Bombay Bicycle Club - Dust On The Ground (Video)
Probabl my favourite British band at the moment.
Not everybody's cup of tea, I'm sure, but I for one am eagerly awaiting their debut album having loved their more recent singles Evening/Morning and Always Like This.

Johnny Depp = Mad Hatter
Julia Dales - Beatbox Champ
I spotted this on MTV's 'It's On with Alexa Chung', the replacement for TRL Live in the US.
The existence of the show was a surprise in itself... this is a primetime pop show with huge ratings across the states, and not only is it hosted by our very own T4 presenting, arctic monkey-dating fashion princess Ms Chung, it's also named after her. Hollywood beckons, I'm sure...
Anyway, here's a video of one of her recent guests, a 17 year old Beatboxing champ. I suppose this story is interesting to many because she's a 17 year old, middle class white girl, and not a fat dude from the Bronx.
I find it interesting because she's good, and it's all a bit nuts at times, particularly when she drops in Britney and Black Eyed Peas 'samples'.

Kasabian - Fire (Video)
This has grown on me massively.
The first few times I heard it, it just sounded like a Doors rip off. Now though, I love it.
Like I love lamp.
Zombieland - Trailer
'This film is not yet rated'... it needs to be an 18 to fully realise it's potential.
Alchemist & Oh No - Under Seige
Taken from the Californians' collabo LP, 'Gangrene'.
Oh No is the mighty Madlib's little brother (like I said before), and Alc is a Beverley Hills educated rich kid-turned Hip Hop Superproducer for acts like Evidence and Mobb Deep. He went to school with Angelina Jolie. He used to be in a group called The Whooliganz with Scott Caan (yes, the one from Oceans 11, who makes a cameo in this video around the 49 seconds mark, and is the son of James Caan, the hothead from The Godfather).
Too much information?

Shutter Island - Trailer (Video)
New from Martin Scorsese and Leo D.
Interesting genre for Scorsese. I suppose this is his first foray into psych-horror (if you exclude the final scenes of Goodfellas, which can still give me nightmares).

Comedy. Without doubt the best flash mob I've seen or heard of.

Common Projects Safari Boot
I love these.
-
"The Safari boot is a new style for s/s 09 from Common Projects and is a playful edition to the collection. A cream nappa high top upper with a simply laced vamp and matching cream rubber sole, this sneaker has a low tongue and long oval toe that differentiate it from a classic basketball style. This is one of the most minimalist shoes C P have come up with and it looks fantastic, as always the Common Projects propriety stamp is on the heel representing the shoe’s individual serial number and style".
-
From Common Projects, available at oki-ni now for £235.

Kanye West - Paranoid (Video) w/ Rihanna
I'm not a fan of the track, but the video is very cool. Watch with the sound down?
-
Update: Damn. Video taken down. Pesky copyright laws!
Chairlift - Bruises (Video)
I'm sure this will be massive, but I can't work out if I like it or if it's VERY ANNOYING. We'll see...

Christian the lion - Bloody hell...
I only heard about this the other day (oh well, only 30 years late).
The story goes...
"In 1969 a young Australian, John Rendall and his friend Ace Bourke, bought a small lion cub from Harrods pet department, which was then legal. 'Christian' was kept in the basement of a furniture shop on the Kings Road in Chelsea, the heart of the swinging sixties. Loved by all, the affectionate cub ate in a local restaurant, played in a nearby graveyard, but was growing fast...
A chance encounter with Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna (Of the Born Free Foundation) led to a new life for Christian. He came to live in a huge enclosure and to sleep in a caravan at their Surrey home. Then in 1971 he was flown to Kenya, his ancestral home, and returned to the wild by lion-man George Adamson. Nine months later in 1972, John and Ace returned to Kora in Kenya. This clip is of their reunion at that time."
It was touch and go that he was going to recognise them for a while.
For me, if to bloody Aussies kept me in the basement of a shop in West London, I'd have bitten their heads clean off. But just because they're Australian.
