MIRF for Marc Jacobs - Window Displays

Via highsnobiety.com:
-
"New York based graffiti duo Mint and Serf, known together as MIRF, have worked on a series of window displays for Marc Jacobs. After already being featured in the background of a Juergen Teller Marc Jacobs ad, this is a nice next step of including the artists work. Next time you walk by a Marc Jacobs store in NYC, make sure to check them out. "

London Police Mural - Amsterdam

-
The London Police were commissioned to throw this mural up in the centre of Amsterdam's historic Jordaan district. But things went quickly downhill...
-
Wooster Says: "Despite getting written permission from the owner of the building, the City Council has threatened to remove it. Local residents are now actively rallying to save it."
-
How people fail to appreciate this type of thing is beyond me... it's not like it says 'Sharon is a slag' or 'Dave and Trace 4 Eva'.

From the streets of Santiago...

Spotted on the streets of the Chile capital (click for close-up).
-
Latin American street art always seems more... artistic, to me.

KAWS x Lance Armstrong Madone Bike

Is there anything KAWS won't add his signature chompers motif to? This time he links with Lance 'Livestrong' to create a yellow trek bike with the KAWS teeth present on the wheels and the... EVERYWHERE.

KAWS Dissected Companion x Be@rbrick

Form an orderly queue.
-
KAWS' famed Dissected Companion meets the standard Companion Bearbrick. These come out next week at OriginalFake's Tokyo outlet, but the collector's are camping out as we speak, so don't waste your time. Keep an eye on eBay in the coming weeks, these will be going for hundreds.

Nigo's 'Kimpsons' painting

Nigo (of BAPE fame) has followed in the footsteps of his buddy Pharrell and had KAWS create a specially commissioned acrylic piece for 'da crib', as it's described in modern parlance. The Bathing Ape founder went for the Simpsons rather than Family Guy.
For those who don't know, that peice above is probably worth 6 figures. Click for a close up.

Caution. Zombies in Road.

Spotted over at Wooster.
Some clever computer-hacker types took over two LED roadwork signs near the University of Texas earlier this week, and decided to warn local residents of an impending zombie attack, and Nazi zombies no less.
*
It's better than putting 'Poo Bum Willy', which is what I'd have probably done.

Movie Spoiler Graffiti - Marley & Me

Slashfilm are reporting a humourous spate of Spoiler-based graf on the posters of the latest Jennifer Aniston rom-com 'Marley & Me', blowing the ending for anyone who walks by.
*
The film = "a heartwarming and unforgettable story of a family in the making and the wondrously neurotic dog who taught them what really matters in life".
The poster = funny.

KAWS' Halloween lion/dog

I thought this was comedic.
Dion? Log? Spotted over at Street Artist KAWS' blog.
This is how his dog went to the NYC Halloween parade.

KAWS x Kanye

Nobody quite knows whether this is the new standard cover art for '808's & Heartbreak' (out Monday, by the way) or if it's for the iTunes version only. Either way, the story is that NYC artist-turned Japanese cool-stuff peddler KAWS (he of OriginalFake fame) has taken his acrylic brush to Kanye's new CD and produced the above. I like it.

KAWS Exhibition @ Gering & Lopez Gallery

If, like me, you live 3000 miles away from the Gering & Lopez gallery in NYC, go here and here to see more images from the KAWS exhibition, currently on display there.
The giant red Chum character above is a highlight.

Family Guy gets the KAWS treatment

Yes, this is a picture of Pharrell holding up a bicycle. No, I couldn't care less about P or the bike.
*
Of more interest to me is the large canvas artwork that Pharrell is standing in front of, which shows the characters from the popular cartoon Family Guy sporting the trademark KAWS treatment. look closely and you'll see that even Brian has the 'X X' eyes...

"In Loving Memory of the Boom Economy"

UK artist K-Guy dropped this piss-taking memorial in the City of London recently, in order for fat bankers to pay their respects.

KAWS x Nike Air Max

NYC street artist-turned-ultra collectible merchandiser KAWS picks up his relationship with Nike where he left off with his version of the AF1... by transferring the design to an Air Max. Black and green colourway with the KAWS/OriginalFake signature 'X X' eyes motif.
*
Not really my thing, but undoubtedly another collectors item. Don't take them out of the box.
Go to Hypebeast for more info and pics (including the white version of the shoe).

The Village Pet Store & Charcoal Grill

Banksy's output is nothing if not prolific at present.
*
During his extended stay across the pond, he's opened a pet shop in New York. Not your average pet shop though... fish fingers swimming in a goldfish bowl, motorised Chicken Nuggets eating from a tray of McDonalds sweet and sour sauce, a rabbit checking her make-up, a baby web-cam looking up at it's 'mother', a large CCTV camera. Oddness.

D*Face - Spray Can installations

London based street artist D*Face deposited these large, concrete spray cans (click image for a larger pic) in a number of tourist hotspots across the city as a comment on the authorities increasingly strict clampdown on street art in all it's guises.
*
D*Face says:
"It’s an art form that’s inspired generations and spawned this whole scene where a Banksy can sell for hundreds of thousands and be shown in top galleries and be lauded by the establishment. Yet at the same time, with CCTV and all the Big Brother-style surveillance that’s on our streets, it’s getting harder to actually create street art where it’s meant to be."

New Banksy 3 storey piece in NYC

Banksy has thrown up this piece in SoHo, New York at the weekend (with a little help from the pro-painting chaps at Colossal). Click HERE for more pics and details.

Rats heart London too.

KAWS Stormtrooper's snapped up

Guess what... they've all gone. But if you've got 500 quid lying around, you can go here and get two of them. Bargain.
