Beg, borrow and steal Heath an Oscar?

Not happy with having the second biggest grossing film of all time, the studio behind 'The Dark Knight' are planning a special Oscar-time reminder-release, no doubt spending some of the Billion Dollars it has made worldwide, thus far, on specifically marketing Heath Ledger's Joker as a Oscar-worthy performance.
*
Now, the film was great and the performance was great too. But this is too contrived and probably unnecessary. He's a shoo-in for a nomination. Why spend more cash trying to buy him votes? He's dead, he won't care. Personally, I can't imagine that his was the best performance this year in a leading role (don't try and tell me he was a supporting actor), and if he wins it will always have that "did he win because he's dead?" question hanging over it.
Desperation to get a trophy on the studios part is sullying a memory here, and I don't like it. Is the boss over at Warner Brothers doing this for Heath's family, or to add the few more dollars in revenue that an "Oscar Winning Performance" tagline brings in?
And the biggest joke of all? Who thinks this film or this performance needs MORE publicity?

Kanye West - Love Lockdown mp3

Kanye West's new sing-le (see what I did there?). I wonder if he'll go back to rapping on his fourth album "808's and Heartbreak", due 16th December?
I'm not sure this link will last long, so get it while you can.

Today, we may all be sucked into a hole on the French-Swiss border. (Theres a joke in there somewhere, I'm sure of it). Here's a nice introduction from the BBC website to what the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is all about.
See you on the other side...

The Big Lebowski - 10 Year Anniversary

The Big Lebowski is 10 years old this year. I can't believe I've been watching this film for a decade and still laugh like I did the first time, still quote it regularly.
(Favourite quote: "Eight year olds, Dude").
*
Until 'No Country...' was released, this was my favourite Coen Brothers film by far. Now it's a tie. I wonder though if that film can stand the test of time (and 10 years of monthly repeat-viewings) like Lewbowski does to this day? We'll see...

Aquarium Drunkard have done a nice retrospective article in honour of todays 10 Year Anniversary DVD release (Region 1). Click HERE to read the article.

"Off-piste afternoon dick in a forest"

Click HERE for more genius wordsmithery from Charlie Brooker's latest G2 column.

And the pictuire above is quite obviously, from Charlie's book Dawn of The Dumb, which is the funniest thing I've read. Ever.
(Although I've only read 13 books, and they were about a drifter called Reacher who is also a killing machine and all-round good egg. Admittedly they were unintentionally funny, but not quite on this level).

A bit harsh that.

"Except, once my pants are on I make gold records"

Will Ferrell - exploring the space and performing the hell out of it... soothing Bruce's fever.

Kanye West - Love Lockdown (Live)

A new track that Kanye performed at the VMA's at the weekend. I like it, a lot more than I should considering it's a rapper singing with auto-tune and a vocoder. But the drums are EXCELLENT.

Damien Hirst x Levi's

Artist Damien Hirst turns his hand to fashion again for his latest collaboration with Levi's. You won't be surprised to see that the diamond skull motif rears its head (sorry) again.

Banksy in Alabama

Fairly straightforward and to the point... no hidden meanings here.
